Harlem Art Walk 014

Explore contributions made by Harlem's WPA  Artists and others by walking through the beautiful neighborhoods of Harlem. The Art Walk trail includes Harlem Hospital's WPA Mural Pavilion, The Studio Museum in Harlem, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture,  Marcus Garvey Park, Frederick Douglas Circle and others. Different forms of art are explored including public installations, ceramics, paintings, textiles and more.   Please provide email address at time of registration. Students are responsible for museum and transportation fees to NYC.  Please wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared to walk 6 miles.  Students will be notified of location to meet in NYC.  Please provide email address at time of registration.

Welcome to the Harlem Art Walk! Our starting time is 11am on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Our meeting location with be in front of The Studio Museum of Harlem, 144 W 125th St, New York, NY 10027. Note that the museum is closed for renovations however this is a very convenient meeting location and only a 10 minute walk from Harlem’s Metro North 125th train station. For directions via car, train, bus or subway visit http://www.studiomuseum.org/visit . We have several exciting stops that we will visit entirely by “foot” on the Harlem Art Trail. Given this, please wear comfortable shoes, weather appropriate clothing and bring bottled water and a light snack in case you need a burst of energy along the way. At our halfway mark, we will break for lunch at ~ 1pm. We’ll also stop by an African Crafts Market and I encourage you to bring a little “cash” for purchase of affordable earrings, art and other cultural crafts. The tour will end promptly at 3pm.
