History of the Hudson River Valley 071

Learn about the history of the Hudson River Valley Region including how modern towns developed out of the early Dutch settlements.  Learn about the local folklore and historic characters of the region: Benedict Arnold, Sybil Ludington, Major John Andre and Daniel Ninham, Thomas Paine, Samuel Morse, Robert Fulton, Dewitt Clinton, Theodore, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt among others.  The story continues with the introduction of steam boats, the railroads and a modern bridge and highway system that leads to regional industrial and economic development.  Pete Seeger, the Clearwater Sailings and the River Keeper influences on the region are also discussed.
