Adults who have not completed high school can now access the new 2014 GED® program tools though MyGED™ at, an online portal that serves as the central hub for all 2015-16 student resources. Students can sign up for free, find preparation tools, schedule their GED® test, check their scores, receive personalized study recommendations to improve their scores, and get support for college and career transitions. Also in MyGED™, students can take GED Ready™: The Official Practice Test, which will tell them if they’re ready to pass the real thing.

Students can use these tools now as they prepare for the new 2014 GED® test, which launched nationwide January 2, 2014. We designed the 2014 GED® test to fully align with leading national and state career- and college-readiness standards, so students will be better prepared to succeed in post-secondary education programs. Also, the test is now exclusively on computer, so students will acquire the basic computer skills they need in today’s job market.

The 2014 GED® program, as the only start-to-finish program, will revolutionize the way adults earn their high school equivalency credentials and will result in improved outcomes for these students and your programs.

Applicants for the GED® State Exam must be a resident of Connecticut; be 17 years old & officially withdrawn from school for at least six months; not be enrolled in school; and not graduated from high school.  Registration takes place at 369 Washington Boulevard, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Applicants must have a photo ID and there is a $13 fee if they are 21 years of age or older. Those who pass the exam are awarded a Connecticut State High School Diploma. Special accommodations for the GED® exam are available for individuals with documented disabilities.
Stamford Adult Education offers a program to prepare residents of Stamford, Darien and New Canaan for the GED® exam. Individuals who are either 17 or 18 years of age at the time of GED® registration must submit documentation that they have been officially withdrawn from a Connecticut school for at least six months; 17 year-olds must submit a withdrawal form with a parent or guardian signature. Individuals who are 18 years of age may submit, in lieu of a withdrawal form, a letter from the last high school that the class with which they entered ninth grade (or would have entered if never enrolled in high school) has already graduated. At registration, an appraisal test is administered. Based on the results, students will be told if they are ready for the GED® State Exam or if they will be placed in a level to suit their educational needs.

Classes are offered in the morning and in the evening.  The program consists of classroom and computer-assisted instruction.

Accommodations for the GED® test are available for qualified individuals with a disability. For more information, contact  Esperanza Diaz @ 203 977 4941. You may also contact Sabrina Mancini at the Connecticut State Department of Education at (860) 807-2110.

A certified guidance counselor, Esperanza Diaz, is available to assist the students with any barriers that might prevent them from being successful in the program. She can be reached at 977-4941.
